With herbs, a little bit goes a long way and because there are many aggressively spreading herbs, we like to grow them in containers, on our deck close to the kitchen.  Most herbs are easy to grow and selection is per your own taste buds.  Herbs are an easy and fun way to get started with plants.

A good day in the garden! Late summer 2009

Welcome to www.homegardener.wordpress.com I hope to share our family adventures trying to turn our 2 acres in central Missouri into a some-what sustainable farm.  We are currently growing fruit trees, berries and nut trees as well as a large vegetable garden.   As we produce more each year, we learn more and more about food preservation, composting, water collection/irrigation, pest management and living lightly on the land.  I hope you enjoy learning from our adventures and mistakes.  Happy gardening!  Check out a great kids movie at www.ConstructionKid.com
